Need for Welfare

In every organization, association or set up, the need for welfare arrangements is very essential as it puts in place policies to ensure the wellbeing of its members.
The SPOSA welfare committee (SWC) will therefore provide an administrative forum for presentations and discussions of key issues of concern to members of the association in order to provide firstly for members of the association; the required level of support relating to their wellbeing and also to put in place a well defined and structured channel of communication.

The following are the areas of focus:

  • Identify issues, risks, and opportunities [in relation to welfare of members] associated with SPOSA’S planning of initiatives and decision-making process.
  • Raise issues of importance to the association and assist with increased education or awareness and communication about these issues. i.e Health, Education, Job opportunities
  • Develop mitigations or alternatives, and/or recommend courses of action regarding the association’s welfare issues.

Aims and Objectives

  • To give members of good standing help in case of emergency.
  • To establish regular contacts amongst the members and potential members home and abroad. ie to provide suitable platform to  discuss and know the well being of each member and encourage and increase membership
  • To represent common issues of  its members i.e wedding, Naming ceremony etc
  • To undertake initiatives in the interest of the members for the attainment of the aims and objectives of the association as directed by the executives

Who Benefits from the Welfare fund

  • An active member of SPOSA who is up to date on contribution to the welfare fund and Monthly dues and hasn’t defaulted in paying at the time of the incident
