    Motion picture production is a fascinating combination of creativity and high technology. It is a truly multi-disciplinary environment and you can expect a wide variety of opportunities and experience working in this business.

    This comprehensive two-year diploma program will give you excellent hands-on training in all the basic aspects of film, television, and digital video production techniques. You'll write, direct, shoot, and edit your own student projects. You'll watch the landmark films, and study the history and theory of cinema. You'll learn how to communicate using the medium. We'll teach you how to make motion pictures—not to pass exams. And we'll help you define your artistic identity.

It is an immediate, multi-disciplinary environment which offers a wide variety of work opportunities in television news, sport, drama, music, variety, education, and many related fields.

    This comprehensive Two-year Diploma program will give you excellent hands-on training in all the basic aspects of Television Studio Production. You'll acquire the skills necessary to become the studio technician of your choice. You'll learn the different television technologies and formats, and you'll study studio production processes. You'll direct multi-camera studio productions such as dramas, sitcoms, game shows, panel discussions, and others. You'll learn to communicate using the television medium. You'll also study the history, theory, and role of television in society. It will be a packed year of study for participating students.

    The qualification is intended to produce TV studio directors, camera operators, lighting technicians, production managers, vision controllers, vision mixers, and sound men - and meet the demand in the industry for skilled technicians.

    Television has been identified as a major growth industry in South Africa - not only because of 2010! Broadcast television consumes many hundreds of hours of programming every day. Not surprisingly, the television and video production industries employ, by far, the most skilled technicians in the media and creative arts. South Africa also has a major corporate video industry and together these industries offer a wide variety of job opportunities for anyone with these specialist skills and the desire to work.
